About the Snack Shack

The heart of Bar-S is West Seattle Little League’s concession stand, which is known as the “Snack Shack.”  It is a fun and convenient way for families to buy refreshments and meals during a game. Sales earned by the Snack Shack are an important and essential source of income for our league and are used to help shoulder the numerous expenses associated with programs such as ours. From field renovations to uniforms, all proceeds go toward ensuring your children have the best possible experience in our League. These funds help guarantee West Seattle Little League will play a great role in your community today and years to come.

The management and staffing of the Snack Shack is done solely by volunteers.

When is the Snack Shack Open?
During the Spring Season, the Snack Shack is typically open during games on Monday through Saturday. Once the regular season is over, we generally host post-season tournaments and our need for volunteers continues through! Details will be posted when the post-season schedule is finalized.

Who staffs the Snack Shack?
The Snack Shack is run by our Concessions Director, Kathleen Lonergan. In a typical season we need a Snack Shack Squad which includes a team of Junior Volunteers and an adult volunteer who help open and close the Snack Shack each day. If you are interested in being part of this team, to open and close on a given day, please contact our coordinator.

Cash tips are a GREAT way to thank our Jr Volunteers!

How can I help?
Jr Volunteers
: We welcome teens age 13+ to volunteer as umpires and Snack Shack helpers. Our 2022 Jr Volunteer team is full. Please check back in January for information about volunteering in 2023.

Adult Volunteers: We would be happy to welcome new adult volunteers in 2022. Be a part of the Bar-S magic! Help our Concessions Director keep the Snack Shack running smoothly through the season. Experience in food service is ideal, but not necessary. Training provided. Responsibilities include:

- Open/close the Snack Shack a few times per month, typically on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. This shift is from approximately 4:30-8:30pm
- Work in the Snack Shack on Saturdays, either morning (8am-11am) or mid-afternoon (2:30-6:30pm)
- Supervise and support our Junior Volunteers (age 13-16) in food prep, cleanliness, customer service, and cash handling. Help them develop leadership and teamwork skills.

In addition, we are seeking a Concessions Director for the 2023 season. Volunteering this spring is a great way to get involved and learn more about this exciting opportunity.

Food recommendations
We recognize that families rely on the Snack Shack for meals throughout the season. If you have ideas of food choices you’d like us to stock, email [email protected]. We do our best to meet the needs of the community while keeping food purchasing and preparations manageable for our volunteers. New for the spring 2022 season - Gluten-free hot dog buns and veggie dogs!
