Requirements

While unstructured, there are some very basic requirements, which provide a safe and fun environment for the players:

  - Players must meet age requirements
  -
Players will determine selection of teams and how many defensive players are used.
  -
Each dugout must have an approved adult volunteer.
  -
Players must adhere to all player safety guidelines, such as:
         -
All batters must wear protective helmets, while batting and while on base.
         -
Catchers must wear approved catcher’s equipment.
         -
Pitch counts must be followed (should be kept by approved adult volunteer).
         -
Proper pitching distances must be followed.
         -
Bases that disengage their anchor must be used.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PARENTS & CAREGIVERS?

Parents, caregivers, and families are vital to the Little League experience. For the Little League Sandlot Fun Days experience, though, that involvement stops at the parking lot. As hard as it is, that means the only thing that should be coming from the bleachers are some words of encouragement for everyone on the field, no coaching, yelling, umpiring, or trying to influence what’s happening on the field. Each Little League Sandlot Fun Day event must have one approved local Little League volunteer present at the game site to oversee the activities. Those adults’ role is to help make sure the players are safe.

Volunteers must be approved, with a completed volunteer application and background check. Volunteer signups are available through the registration form.

FAQ

Do players have to reside within WSLL boundaries to play in Sandlot games?
No, Sandlot games are open to everyone.

Can I play in the baseball games if I played softball during the regular spring season?
Yes, the baseball Sandlot games are coed.

My plans changed and I need to update the registration for the games my player can attend. How do I update?
1. Login to your WSLL account
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your player's profile
3. Scroll down to the Sandlot section and update dates accordingly
4. Click Save

Will the Snack Shack be open?
Snack Shack operating days/times are TBD based on Sandlot registration. Continue to check back on this page for updates.

What are the age ranges for Sandlot Fun Days?
Sandlot Fun Days are designed to be a relaxed game at the ballpark. Boundaries and birth date age ranges are not as firm as the regular season. Safety is still our #1 priority! If you feel it's best to have your player play up or down with safety as the key deciding factor, please select the appropriate date(s) in the registration form that you would like your player to attend.

Baseball
  - 7-8 year olds (2nd year Coach Pitch & Rookies during spring 2022 season)
  - 9-10 year olds (Minors during spring 2022 season)
  - 11-12 year olds (Majors during spring 2022 season)

Softball recommend age ranges
  - 7-8 year olds (Rookies during spring 2022 season)
  - 9-10 year olds (Minors during spring 2022 season)
  - 11-12 year olds (Majors during spring 2022 season)

I didn't register my player, can they still attend?
We highly recommend registering in advance for Sandlot Fun Days as it helps the league with planning. We however don't want interested players to miss out on the opportunity to play. Your player is still welcome to attend if you did not register. There will be a check-in table for each Sandlot game.
