Understanding League Age. Can My Child Play Up?

West Seattle Little League has set our divisions based on Little League League Age. In general, we recommend enrolling your player in the division that aligns with their league age. This way, your player will be in a division with friends and classmates.  Please remember, all divisions focus on building skills, deepening understanding of softball/baseball knowledge, and most importantly having fun. If you feel strongly that your player’s skills and experience prepare them to play up to the next division, please email us and let us know.

If they are league age 7 and under, we will try to work with your request.

If your player is league age 8 and older, we will note your request once they are registered and ask that your player attend assessments for the division they want to play up to. At assessments, our Director of Coaching and other coaches will assess your player’s skills and determine if there are any safety concerns. Shortly after assessments, the coaches will determine if your player has approval to play up to the next division.*

*Please note that if it is determined that your player is best suited to play with their League Age peers in Tee Ball, Coach Pitch baseball or AA Rookies softball, we may not be able to honor coach and friend requests, as teams will already be formed. Your player will end up on a team with the least number of players.

 Upload required forms

- Birth Certificate is required for all players.
- League Age 8+ players: upload school attendance form (preferred) or proof of address documents.
- See the residency & school attendance eligibility requirements for details.

Skills Assessments for 8-14 Year Old Players

Upper divisions (Rookies baseball, AAA Minors softball and Minors baseball, Majors softball and baseball, and Juniors softball) are formed via a draft process.

Skills evaluations typically happen around the first weekend of March, and dates will be updated on our calendar as soon as we have fields reserved.

 Sign-Up to Volunteer

Without volunteers, WSLL would not exist. Be sure to sign-up for a volunteer position during the registration process: Manager, Assistant Coach, Umpire, Field Prep, Scorekeeper, Team Parent, etc. WSLL offers support/training for these volunteer roles!

 Cancellation Policy

Parents may cancel their child's enrollment at any time. The policy of West Seattle Little League is to issue no refunds after a player has participated in a practice or sanctioned game. Prior to playing in practice or sanctioned game, a refund of the registration fee will be issued, minus a small processing fee.

 Payment

ALL registrations and donations are processed securely online through Sports Connect.
