We’re looking for current and former players to join our Junior Volunteer Umpire Program this 2026 season!
Junior Umpiring is a great way for players to stay connected to baseball and softball, build confidence, and take on a meaningful leadership role within West Seattle Little League, all while supporting a fun, fair, and positive experience for younger players.
Volunteer hours:
For those that need volunteer hours for school, Junior Umpires will receive a minimum of 2 volunteer hours per game, making this a great opportunity for players looking to fulfill service requirements while staying involved in the league.
Who can umpire?
Junior Umpires must be at least one year older than the division they are officiating (for example, a league-age 13 player can umpire Majors, Minors, and below). Players can participate as Junior Umpires up until their 18th birthday.
What games can they umpire?
Games take place on weeknights after school and on weekends during the day and evening, across:
- Baseball & Softball Majors
- Baseball & Softball Minors
- Baseball & Softball Rookies
No experience? No problem!
WSLL will provide all necessary equipment, along with initial and ongoing training, instruction, and support throughout the season.
We have two upcoming training opportunities at Bar-S Playfield:
- Thursday, April 2 at 5:00 - 6:00 PM
- Friday, April 3 at 5:00 - 6:00 PM
Each session will include about an hour of instruction, with the option to stay and watch the live games happening those evenings, all while receiving real-time guidance and tips. This is a perfect opportunity for both new and returning junior umpires.
If your player is interested, please fill out the sign-up form below. We’ll use this to build our contact list and share training details, game schedules, and ongoing support throughout the season.
